Nursing narratives. The essence of care in diverse contexts

This book brings together narratives arising from lived experiences in different settings of nursing care, such as adult emergency services, obstetrics, pediatrics, hospitalization, prenatal care, as well as in institutions such as nursing homes for older adults and mental health centers. Through reflective writings, the work makes visible the complexity of nursing practice and the multiple situations that emerge in everyday practice, including ethical dilemmas and autonomy in decision-making.

Each of these stories reveals diverse human responses in both patients and professionals, transcending care focused exclusively on the biomedical toward a humanistic approach to care that integrates all dimensions of the human being. Likewise, the importance of incorporating the competencies of knowing, doing, and feeling, together with the patterns of knowledge intrinsic to the discipline, is highlighted.
