Tribute to Eduardo Francisco Cote Lamus, 61 years after his death

This research paper explores the life and literary work of Colombian writer Eduardo Francisco Cote Lamus, his influences, travels, roles played in his life as a writer, educator, and statesman, his cultural work, and his understanding of the social and economic conditions of Chocó.

This work alludes generally to the image of the hand and the dream, as previously unexplained, to highlight these themes present in his poems. Furthermore, this text is enriched with photographs of his life experiences with his family, friends, and intellectuals from various countries.

One of the most important poems of his literary work appears in these pages: “Estoraques”, which was born from the experience he had in that wonderful place located in the municipality of La Playa de Belén, in Norte de Santander.

This book was written to pay tribute to the poet and writer Eduardo Cote Lamus, on the sixty-first anniversary of his death, which will be celebrated on August 3, 2025. In this way, the University of Pamplona, led by Dr. Ivaldo Torres Chávez, and its publishing house join in this important date.
